Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 4 July 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or otherwise using gengrumah (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you don't agree to them, please don't use the Service.
2. What gengrumah is
gengrumah is a household management tool for people who share a home. It helps housemates split bills by occupancy, schedule and track chores, coordinate an occupancy calendar, message each other, and leave reviews for past housemates.
gengrumah does not process, hold, or transfer money. Every amount you see in the billing section is a record of who owes what — settling up still happens between housemates, by whatever means you normally use (bank transfer, cash, or otherwise).
3. Accounts and households
- You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when registering and when creating or joining a household.
- A household owner can approve or remove members, manage the household's room listings, and control who can join.
- You're responsible for anything you post to a household — including your schedule, bills, chores, messages, and reviews.
4. Shared household data
Joining a household means other members can see the information you contribute to it — your occupancy schedule, chore assignments, bill payment status, messages you send in household conversations, and any reviews associated with your account. Don't share anything in a household you wouldn't want your current or future housemates to see.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, harassing, or fraudulent.
- Upload content you don't have the right to share, or content that's abusive, defamatory, or infringing.
- Attempt to access another household's data without authorisation.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, or attempt to reverse engineer it.
- Post fake or malicious reviews about other users.
- Send or post content that's obscene, indecent, false, menacing, or offensive in character with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass another person, or that violates the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
6. Discover listings and room visits
Household owners may choose to list their household publicly on the Discover page. Anyone using the Service can browse open listings, request a room visit, or apply to join. Owners are responsible for the accuracy of their listing and for how they handle visit requests and applications.
7. Termination
You can leave a household or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, without prior notice where reasonably necessary to protect other users.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. gengrumah is a coordination tool between housemates — we're not a party to any financial arrangement, tenancy agreement, or dispute between household members, and we aren't liable for disagreements about bills, chores, deposits, or room arrangements made through the Service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right you have under Malaysian law that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act 1999.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll do our best to let you know before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia for any dispute arising from these terms.
